Open-air track car rides connect the New York Museum of Transportation with the Rochester & Genesee Valley Railroad Museum. The trip takes 15 minutes each way through unspoiled country scenery, and the 30 minute guided tour at RGVRRM visits a 1918 country train station and a host of railroad cars and engines on display. The track car ride and RGVRRM tour are all included in the price of admission.
Trolley Follies

The museum trolley line has been doubled in length. Come celebrate with slide talks on Rochester's trolley history, rare movies of the Rochester Subway, and other special features. This event takes place during regular museum hours (11AM-5PM).
Caboose Day

Known as vans, cabin cars, crummies, or “the little red caboose”, visitors are welcome on this special day to ride the rails and live the life of a railroader for a day aboard several freight train cabooses. The track car ride will take you to the staging area where knowledgeable guides will help you aboard for your trip. Keep an eye out for hoboes! This event takes place during regular museum hours (11AM-5PM).

The museums will highlight the diesel locomotive during this two-day celebration. With six operating diesels from a small 45 ton switcher to a large 1000 & 1200 horsepower road-switchers, the museums plan to have several of the engines running. Locomotive and caboose rides are planned. Come on out, see, hear and take a ride on these historic locomotives. Special event ticket prices apply for this event: Adults $8, seniors $7, children (3-15) $5. Special hours: 10AM to 6PM.
R&GVRRM Closes

Track car rides end. R&GV Railroad Museum closes for the season. NYMT remains open from November through April at reduced admission rate.
